Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting

Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on November 12, 2024. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present Jessica Nelson, Shawn O’Dell and Josh Jensen.

Absent: Luke Kratzer
Also Present: Kyle Johnson, Karl Johnson, Brian Hoefs

Presentation:
Kyle Johnson-lives at 105 Dewey Ave. Got a building permit for a garage but the price was too high. Found a good deal on a shipping container and would be more cost efficient. He is going to complete a permit which spells out how he intends to cover the building/roof it etc.

Brian Hoefs-110 1st St brought a building permit

Karl Johnson-101 2nd St, there is a vacated city lot in between his building and the house next door and their curious if the city would split that property between the two of them as Karl has been maintaining.

Minutes:
a. Josh Jensen moved to accept the October 9, 2024, minutes. It was seconded by Jess and carried, all in favor.
Bills & Claims:
a. Jess Nelson moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor.
Utilities: Letters were sent.

Correspondence: None

Engineer/Water/Sewer:
a. All is good with water and sewer
b. Water has been shut off and winterized at the ball diamond, campground etc.

Parks:
a. Wondering if we could put up the ice rink on the city property on main street. She contacted the property owner next door to that lot to use his lot as walking space and he was fine with that.
b. Church movie night in January will be held at the hall due to a conflict at the church.

Streets:
a. Xcel is now requiring a ticket be submitted for every bad streetlight. Chad posted on Facebook to have residents to help submit these work tickets.
b. Snow fence on south end of town so we will need people to help.
c. Hole in road about 8-10 inches and then to the culvert. Chad filled it with gravel. Next Spring we should have someone come out and inspect it.
d. Road Grader and gravel: If weather stays decent, Chad will keep trying to spread the gravel around town.
e. Once we are done with the grader will need to switch it over to the snow blower.

Mayor/City Clerk:
a. Election results- Chad and Jess were reelected. The other council position will go to write-in. There was a three-way tie. Josh and Jess will talk to these individuals and see if any one is interested in holding the position. If there is a tie a drawing will be hold.
b. Resolution for Cannabis was reviewed Jess Nelson moved to approve the resolution. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor.
c. Attorney for the diversion- Chad contacted O’Keeffe, O’Brien, Lyson and sent us a retainer agreement. Josh Jensen moved to approve the retainer it was seconded by Shawn and carried, all in favor.
d. Reviewed complaints- Brian is present so discussed the garage hanging out on Hwy 75. He is trying to sell the building but it will for sure be moved before snow fall.
e. Discussed the other complaint. That vehicle is no longer an issue but if it is again we will send a letter to the owner and express the concern.
f. Discussion on council members being compensated for mowing/maintenance of city property while having no employee this summer. Christine pays $18.00 an hour. When we were going to hire our minimum was $17.00. Josh Jensen moved to approve council and mayor being paid $17.00 for their hours. It was seconded by Jess and carried, all in favor, motion carried.

Municipal Business Development: None

Motion to Adjourn: Jess Nelson moved to adjourn the November 12, 2024, it was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on December 10, 2024.
