Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting

 

Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on February 11, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present were Shawn O’Dell and Josh Jensen.

 

Absent: Jessica Nelson

Presentation: None

 

Minutes:

  1. Josh Jensen moved to accept the January 14, 2025 minutes. It was seconded by Shawn and carried, all in favor.

Bills & Claims:

  1. Josh Jensen moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Shawn and carried, all in favor.

Utilities: Jessi to follow-up on any past due.

 

Correspondence: Voter agreement was reviewed. Shawn O’Dell moved to approve the agreement. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor.

 

Engineer/Water/Sewer:

  1. Suez will be here to fix the manhole cover that was leaking on top on the water tower this Spring. For now, the set points have been adjusted so that the water level does not reach the door.
  2. Everything else with water and sewer has been good.
  3. Kratzers were in and cut down the willow tree across from the elevator.
  4. John has a quote for cost to rebuild the hydrants. It would be around $2,700 apiece and MRWA would help to rebuild them at no cost.

Parks:

  1. Getting one more quote on the bollards for around the city well.

Streets:

  1. Streetlights are still a work in progress.
  2. Sinkhole-Need to have Hammond come out and look at it.
  3. Shawn asked about speed bumps or speed limit signs as there is lots of speeding on city streets. Shawn will look into this more.

Mayor/City Clerk:

  1. Hazard Mitigation meeting was held virtually last Friday. Jess Nelson and Jessi Kappes participated. The County is working on updating the 5 year plan which makes the county including all jurisdictions within in it eligible for FEMA funds. This will be a 1-1.5 year process were all jurisdictions will be actively participating in the development of the plan.
  2. There will be additional information coming on cannabis management with Health and Human Services.
  3. Attorney-Chad emailed O’Keeffe again and asked for recommendations on who to contact if they aren’t able to represent us.
  4. Diversion: no update, they are still working on acquisitions.
  5. Maintenance position-Chad will be working on it this month. Jessi posted it on city website as well as the application form was added.

 

Municipal Business Development:  None

 

Motion to Adjourn:  Shawn O’Dell moved to adjourn the February 11, 2025, it was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned.  The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on March 13, 2025.
