Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting

Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on August 18, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Jessica Nelson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present were Frank Israelson, Josh Jensen and Shawn O’Dell.

Minutes:
a. Josh Jensen moved to accept July 2026 minutes. It was seconded by Shawn O’Dell and carried, all in favor.
Bills & Claims:
a. Josh Jensen moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Shawn O’Dell and carried, all in favor.
Utilities: 1 has paid a large portion, #2 Paid

Correspondence: None

Engineer/Water/Sewer:
a. Water and Sewer have been good.
b. Overflowing the water tower this week to clean it out.
c. MRWA is coming in first week of September to help fix fire hydrant in campground. Will flush hydrants in late September.

Parks:
a. Damage done to park area by kids. Discussed putting the trail camera back up in the park. Council will go over and take a look at the area and decide where to place the camera.
b. Campground Parking-Discussed putting something around the well area to avoid parking. In the past John had suggested building a small shed around the electric panel to protect it. Temporarily put up a fence around it. Josh will stop over and look at it to get some ideas.
c. New camper in recently.

Streets:
a. Very dry and cracking, some getting very large. Turner’s suggested that we have a grader come in to get some of them fixed.
b. Streetlights-Josh is working to get them scheduled to come out and get them finished.

Mayor/City Clerk:
a. Discussed that John called T&G about dumpsters for a roll-off. Purchasing is $6500 and its $500 to dump, renting is $1100 plus the dumping fee. They said that most of these dumpsters just rust out cause of sitting out. Discussed dumping South of town.
b. Parade went well for city and Red Silo.
c. We have not received the check from the JPA for the campground updates yet. We should receive the check for the campground updates hopefully next week. Then she has to resubmit the forms for the second part of the project down at the ball diamond.
d. Reviewed cost of how we currently do financial and utility billing and proposals for updating it. We currently use Gateway for autopay, QuickBooks for accounting and utility Josh Jensen moved to accept these proposals. It was seconded by Shawn O’Dell
e. City Attorney-Jessi indicated that she emailed the city attorney to discuss nuisance yards. She didn’t hear back so reached out again and still hasn’t heard back. She then contacted the city attorney in Breckenridge for recommendations. He is willing to come out and visit the council and possibly work with the city on his own.
f. MN Livable Code written by the League of MN Cities was discussed. It’s a book or ordinances written by the League specifically for cities with populations less than 500. Jessi will send them to the city council for them to review.

Municipal Business Development: None

Motion to Adjourn: Shawn O’Dell moved to adjourn August 18, 2026, it was seconded by Frank and carried, all in favor. Jessica Nelson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on September 15, 2026.
