Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting

 

Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on April 8, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:08 P.M. Council members present were Jessica Nelson, Josh Jensen, Shawn O’Dell and Frank Israelson.

 

Absent: Jessi Kappes

 

Also Present: Kory Kaste, SVEDA

 

Presentation:

  1. Kory spoke about putting business plans together; start to finish, and sales of business when that time comes, and who SVEDA can help our area.
  2. Resources: Small Business Consulting department, Marketing and financial assistance.
  3. Housing: RWJPA (Richland Wilkin joint powers authority) Diversion settlement funds, mainly focusing on housing. Not infrastructure. Also has funds for “flipping” properties. RWJPA is a separate entity of SVEDA, but they work together.

 

Minutes:

  1. Josh Jensen moved to accept March 2025 minutes. It was seconded by Shawn and carried, all in favor.

Bills & Claims:

  1. Josh Jensen moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Jessica and carried, all in favor.

Utilities: Letters were sent.

Engineer/Water/Sewer:

  1. None

Parks:

  1. None

Streets:

  1. Dave Hammond knows about the sink hole, has looked at it and needs the road conditions to improve before repairs may be done.
  2. Quote presented to grade our roads from Rogers Road Maintenance LLC. Discussion about them preparing roads (including removing potholes) to allow gravel to be spread on roads. Jessica motioned to approve Rogers Road Maintenance quote of grading, as well as to repair roads to allow gravel to be spread on roads. It was seconded by Shawn O’Dell and carried, all in favor.
  3. Josh Jensen did a run around and found 13 lights out throughout town, as well as 5 on Hwy 75. Also noticed that there are more lights in town than what are on the map Chad gave us all last month. He has marked all poles onto a map on his computer, did not have an appropriate printer to print it out.

Mayor/City Clerk:

  1. Maintenance Position: New application from Alex Hamre. Discussion about getting interviews going, for both. Wage discussion. Start at $20/hr. Interviews will depend on applicants’ schedule, once that is set with Chad and applicant then text to be sent out and one more council member will step up to assist with interview depending on their schedules.
  2. Phone Lines: Discussion Had. Cannot find 3 lines.

 

Municipal Business Development: None

 

Motion to Adjourn: Josh Jensen moved to adjourn the April 13, 2025, it was seconded by Frank and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on May 13, 2025.
