Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on August 13, 2019 in Council Chambers in the City of Wolverton, MN. The meeting was called to order by Nancy Olthoff at 6:15 P.M. Council members present: Geoff Zibell, Chad Erickson, Duane Nelson and Lisa Pool.
Absent: None
Also Present: Randy Schmidt, Bill Dablow, other members of Sabin fire
Minutes: Duane Nelson moved to accept the July 10, 2019 meeting minutes. It was seconded by Chad and carried, all in favor.
Bills & Claims: The checks and bills were reviewed Chad Erickson moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Geoff and carried, all in favor.
Overdue Utilities:
Shutoff letters were sent.
Correspondence: Correspondence was reviewed.
Engineer/Water/Sewer:
1. Electric Pump was here today as the pump has been tripping out. They will let us know the cost.
2. Clean-up Day at the park went really well. The following things were worked on:
a. Shelter ceiling painting
b. Tennis court fence put up
c. New wood on playground set
d. Merry-go-round wire brushed and painted
e. All hydrants painted throughout town
3. Cameras at the park will be going up this week.
Fire Department: Discussion was had about the cost for a service agreement with Sabin Fire as well as renting out fire hall space to Sabin. Wolverton as 55 households and 8 commercial properties. The city will save money on phone and workers comp expenses. We will actually pay less to Sabin for fire services then we are currently paying. Sabin will be purchasing the tank from the back of the pickup and the city will keep the truck. Sabin will draft the service contract, Wolverton will draft a rental agreement and we will finalize at the September meeting.
Randy will talk to John about flushing hydrants, check the flow rate, and winterize the hydrants.
A lot of the equipment is outdated so can be thrown away.
Parks: Discussion was had on a community day. Chad will visit with church men’s group about doing a community day.
Streets: Nancy provided prices for a new culvert. Chad stated we could rent and excavator and do the work ourselves later this year.
Discussed purchasing a chain saw in the future. John will price out some options.
Mayor/City Clerk: Discussed possibly changing the meeting date in the future and updates to the city website.
Planning Commission: No Report.
