Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting

Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on February 15, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present Joshua Jensen, Luke Kratzer and Jess Nelson.

Absent:
Also Present: Deb Price, Kris Bakkegard (Metro Flood Diversion Authority), Randy Englestad (Houston Engineering), Joel Paulson (Executive Director Flood Authority), and Kristi (Buffalo Watershed)

Presentation:
Kris Bakkegard-Went over what FMD does. Discussed 2 phases, 30 mile contracts. Easements are required with landowners for water storage.

Randy Englestad:
1. Protecting 500 year +1
2. Water on South to be rerouted down ditch to the river, coulee will only be utilized by elevator storm pipes.
3. Working on septic system station options, not a good height as it sets.
4. Timeline for finalizing levy-Need to get geotechnical okay first then make the models and get city council approval. Possible guess is 12 months. Goal is to have levy in place before Fargo side of things are done.
5. Discussed if there are a clause in the MOU for about being able to add onto levy in the future?
6. Community wondered why there is not equal acres in square mile protection and if we can be compensated for the difference.

a. Jess Nelson moved to accept the January 2023 minutes. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor.

a. Josh Jensen moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Luke and carried, all in favor.

Mayor/City Clerk:

a. Deb would like to accept the position. She will be sworn in and become a council member at the next meeting.
b. Annual audit requirements to be discussed at the next meeting.

Municipal Business Development: None

Motion to Adjourn: on February 15, 2023, by Jess Nelson. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on March 16, 2023.
