Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting

Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on March 13, 2025. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present were Shawn O’Dell and Josh Jensen.

Minutes:

  1. Josh Jensen moved to accept the February 11, 2025 minutes. It was seconded by Jess and carried, all in favor.

Bills & Claims:

  1. Shawn O’dell moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor.

Utilities: Letters were sent.

Correspondence: None

Engineer/Water/Sewer:

  1. Water and sewer are good.
  2. Communication errors with the wells. Sweeney was out Tuesday and fixed the problem.
  3. Polar called and we have five lines. Do we need all of them? We will review the invoices.
  4. Suez provided a bid to do the cleaning and repair the side door. They also recommend coating the inside of the tank as they recommend doing it every 15-20 years and it has not been done since the early 90’s. Josh Jensen moved to approve the quote from Suez. It was seconded by Shawn and carried, all in favor.
  5. Chad met with someone that is looking into MN rural water. It is a multi-year project that they are in the planning stages of.

Parks:

  1. Get more quotes on the bollards around the well.

Streets:

  1. Streetlights-Chad found an old map of streetlights. Josh is going to go around and mark non-working ones and the map and we will email the map to the director.
  2. Sinkhole-Need to have Hammond come out and look at it.
  3. Speed limit signs were discussed. The council will be looking at doing an inventory of signs in town and then either adding additional speed limit signs or stop signs instead.

Mayor/City Clerk:

  1. Still trying to find an attorney.
  2. No updates on the diversion.
  3. Maintenance position-we received an application from Robert Betz. Jess posted the position on the Leagues website. The application period will be closing end of March. Jess will email Robert back and let him know interviews will be done in April.
  4. City clean up day will be May 13th. Flyers posted and if any residents need help cleaning stuff up, they can contact the council and they will help clean up yards so try to clean up the town.
    1. Roll-off option in the fall.
    2. Discussed abandoned or junk vehicles. Can we send out a letter to everyone letting them know if they have vehicles that they want to get rid of to contact the city and we will get them hauled away.
    3. Discussed grass and tree disposal options
    4. Discussed doing a garbage day cleanup around town this Spring
    5. Josh is looking at painting the park playground equipment.
    6. Frank took oath of office.
    7. Hazard Mitigation reviewed and survey completed.

Municipal Business Development:  None 

Motion to Adjourn:  Jess Nelson moved to adjourn the March 13, 2025, it was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on April 15, 2025.
