Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting
Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on May 14, 2024. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:02 P.M. Council members present Josh Jensen and Jess Nelson
Absent: Luke Kratzer
Also Present: Tony Harris
Presentation:
Tony Harris- 2024 Police Contract 73 calls in 2023 for a total of $4,642.85 due. Similar to last year but fee did go up for this year. No major issues other then a couple weeks ago we had that vandalism across town. They have an idea of who did it but not sure if they will be able to prove it. Encourages cameras by homeowners. Josh Jensen moved to approve the 2024 contract. It was seconded by Jess and carried, all in favor.
R.C. Stein- Member of Wolverton American Legion. Membership has declined down to 11 members and of those 11 many are aging or no longer live in the area. They met last week and have decided to cancel their charter, but they would like to keep their presence to an extent to observe veteran holiday’s in Wolverton. Memorial day is the main holiday. He would like to ask the city for help with storage of some flags and crosses. Faith Lutheran Church Men’s club would then do the work of setting out the flags going forward. City is absolutely willing to store all items.
FLC-Renata Smeby, LaDawn Turner, Devlyn Brooks-Faith Forward group (10 people). Trying to find ways to help the community and be more involved. Church went through a rural revitalization program that reviewed how they operate and tell them what they can do better. So, they are looking at what needs are in town and how they can help meet those needs. Looking for suggestions on what things that the council feels the town needs? Also, could they use our buildings/spaces?
Devlyn-expand their mission to build community, food trucks, co-hosting kids activities, helping take care of our neighbors.
Fire hall bays could be used for seating for food trucks.
No fees for community events on city facilities.

Bills & Claims:

Utilities: Two letters sent
Correspondence: League of MN Cities Info
Engineer/Water/Sewer:
a. Water and sewer good
b. New Owner’s for Bobby O’s place and they plan to fix it up.
c. Nordick Electric gave a quote for updating electrical on the campground of $5,825.
d. Mosquito spray was delivered on 5/7 so ready for when we need to start spraying.
e. Working on cleaning and organizing the fire hall.
f. New starter in the tanker truck and that is running good.
g. City pickup is still having issues but they are working on it.
h. Should we look at selling the Rescue vehicle?
i. Riding lawn mower is fixed.
j. Dropped a valve in the weed eater. Cost was the same to either fix it or buy a new one so a new one was purchased that now has a warranty again.
k. Xcel has only fixed 2 street lights so far.
Parks:
a. Discussed doing a city event night in coordination with the food truck nights.
b. Possibly looking at 2nd week in June. Jess will check on the food truck and then send out to the council.
c. Aggregate for ball diamond-Josh is working on getting a quote.
Streets: None
Mayor/City Clerk:
a. Crown appraisals contacted Chad about an acre of land the city owns down by the river that the diversion will look at buying us out on.
b. Discussed diversion-not much updates from the landowners meeting. Right now they are saying no work will start until 2025. Let’s check with our attorney if they are comfortable representing us in that capacity.
c. UBS Account closed so we need to discuss how we would like those funds to be invested.
d. Draft of our 2023 financials is done and waiting for Jessi’s review.

Motion to Adjourn: Josh Jensen moved to adjourn the May 14, 2024, it was seconded by Jess and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on May 14, 2024.
