Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting
Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on September 12, 2023. The meeting was called to order by Chad Erickson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present Joshua Jensen, Luke Kratzer and Jess Nelson.
Absent Jessi Kappes
Also Present: Samantha VanWeel-West Central Initiative
Presentation: Samantha VanWeel presented information on what WCI does.
Minutes:
a. Josh Jensen moved to accept the August 2023 minutes. It was seconded by Luke and carried, all in favor.
Bills & Claims:
a. Luke Kratzer moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Jess and carried, all in favor.
Utilities: Letters were sent
Correspondence: None
Engineer/Water/Sewer:
a. Water has been good.
b. Called two different lift station companies for additional quotes on the lift station repairs. One said booked the rest of the year and the other was going to come and look then provide us a quote. Since have called and left them two additional messages.
c. There’s a little dirt still left in the campground, still working on finding someone to take it.
d. Discussed shutting off the water at the ball diamond.
e. Need to discuss snow removal.
f. Enough chemical to fog for mosquitos one more time. Will not order more for this year.
Parks:
a. Discussed having a fall city event. Council will be looking into a possible DJ, fire & potluck. Date subject to DJ availability.
Streets:
a. Streets are ok as of now.
Mayor/City Clerk:
a. Discussed still needing more council members.
b. Reviewed the Voting Operations, Technology, & Election Resources (VOTER) Account Agreement- John Jensen moved to approve this agreement. It was seconded by Luke and carried, all in favor.
c. Building permit for Cresswell was reviewed. Proposed construction does to conform to ordinance as the building is too large.
d. Permit for Johnson was reviewed. A wooden shed as indicated on the permit is allowed provided all ordinance requirements are met and a survey is completed. Josh Jensen moved to approve this ordinance. It was seconded by Luke and carried, all in favor.
e. Discussed zoning for the bank building. Jess Nelson moved to keep the current zoning as commercial. It was seconded by Luke and carried, all in favor.
f. Discussed property tax levy. Jess Nelson moved to increase the property tax levy by 10% from last year. It was seconded by Josh and carried, all in favor.
g. Discussed signs along 75. Need to look at a new ordinance to uphold the signs.
Municipal Business Development: None
Motion to Adjourn: on September 12, 2023, by Josh Jensen. It was seconded by Luke and carried, all in favor. Chad Erickson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on September 12, 2023.
