Minutes of Wolverton City Council Meeting
Pursuant to due call and proper notice, a meeting of the City of Wolverton Council was held on April 14, 2026. The meeting was called to order by Jessica Nelson at 6:15 P.M. Council members present were Frank Israelson, Josh Jensen and Shawn O’Dell.
Absent: None
Also Present: Leroy Betz
Presentation: None
Minutes:
a. Josh Jensen moved to accept March 2026 minutes. It was seconded by Frank Israelson and carried, all in favor.
Bills & Claims:
a. Josh Jensen moved to accept the bills & claims. It was seconded by Frank Israelson and carried, all in favor.
Utilities: Paid $450 so is current and just owes a portion of Aprils bill.
Correspondence: Reviewed email from Blake Friesen
Engineer/Water/Sewer:
a. Water and Sewer have been good.
b. Cardboard recycling bin is supposed to be dropped off at some point this week.
c. Shawn O’Dell moved to accept the sewer plan with no changes with Christine. It was seconded by Frank Israelson and carried, all in favor.
Parks:
a. Campground renters from last several years are not willing to pay the increased rates. They are indicating that they can go to Barnesville for slightly more cost but have the amenities of a grocery store, gas stations, restaurants etc. Prices will remain at the increased amount and will advertise the spots.
b. Reviewed quotes for updating the electricity at the campground and adding electricity sites at the ball diamonds. Cost of updating the campground would be $9,475.

Streets:
a. Discussed grading the roads and adding new gravel. We will try to coordinate
Mayor/City Clerk:
a. Electric Franchise Ordinance with Xcel. Nelson explained she has done some research into switching. Xcel would need to release us and then it potentially could cost us up to $50,000 to switch to LREC. She would like to suggest that we ask to do a 5- or 10-year contract instead and that we require them to have a representative come to a meeting annually in Wolverton and to change the verbiage of the timeframe for renewal. Nelson will contact Xcel for the changes the council would like to have made and send out to council for final approval.
b. Discussed projects for Courtney to get done this Spring. She will start with painting the inside of the hall, putting up the new basketball hoop, garbage cleanup throughout town, and getting all the equipment ready for the season. Also will have her make a Octaball game that will be put at the park or ball diamond. Also Courtney purchased a leaf blower, car ramps and a battery charger last year at an auction for $105 for the city. Council will reimburse her for these to have as city tools.
c. Cleanup day will be May 19th.
d. Reach out to area fire departments to see if they would be interested in doing a controlled burn training exercise.
e. Discussed the cost of Sabin-Elmwood Fire Service.

Motion to Adjourn: Josh Jensen moved to adjourn April 14, 2026, it was seconded by Frank and carried, all in favor. Jessica Nelson declared the meeting adjourned. The next Wolverton City Council Meeting will be held on May 13, 2026.
